15 mai 2019 · · …#ImmigrationandExchangeMonth #AAPIHeritageMonth #AITat40 #AITat40Celebration Happy AIT@40 Immigration & Exchange Month! In honor of this month, we will share some very inspiring family stories of AIT officers. Here is Anna’s story: My mom came to the United States from Taiwan to pursue graduate studies in Louisiana (where I was born) and eventually moved to New York. Here she is outside the China Airlines office in New York, in 1983. She was so excited to see a familiar name from back home in the United States. And now, here I am in Taiwan, representing the United States. Fortunately, I don’t have to look very far here to find pieces of home – American food and movies and TV is everywhere, thanks to the generation of immigrants like my mother who helped forge our strong U.S.-Taiwan people-to-people ties. – Anna Wang, Environment, Science, Technology, and Health Officer, AIT

30 mai 2019 · · …#ImmigrationandExchangeMonth #AAPIHeritageMonth #AITat40 #AITat40Celebration #NextGenNatSec In commemoration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, AIT Political Officer Thomas Wong was recognized as one of the "40 Asian American Pacific Islander National Security & Foreign Policy Next Generation Leaders." Like many others at AIT, Tom’s family story is but one of the countless other journeys of Americans with immigrant ancestors. Tom's grandparents fled mainland China in the 1930s and 1940s to the Philippines and Taiwan – places where Tom's parents grew up – and ultimately immigrated and established roots in the United States, where Tom was born and raised and had the privilege of serving in the U.S. Army and now with the U.S .Department of State. Congratulations to all the honorees! Link to list: https://www.newamerica.org/…/asian-american-pacific-island…/

In honor of this month, we will share some very inspiring family stories of AIT officers. Here is Henry’s story: On an early summer day more than 20 years ago, my family and I arrived in the United States as immigrants. On our way to our new home, we stopped along the coastal highway, where I saw the Pacific Ocean from the West Coast for the very first time. Two decades later, I traveled across that ocean again to come to Taiwan to serve at AIT. As a new arrival in America, I had no idea about the challenges that lay ahead for my family, but I also could not have imagined the opportunities that would be available to help millions of immigrants like us break through language, cultural, and other barriers. I have often wondered, in how many countries would immigrant stories like mine be possible? -- Henry Fung, Consular Officer, AIT

![Tonight we’re shouting out to @[857652917619119:274:Weijia Jiang], the Chinese-American reporter for @[131459315949:274:CBS News], who UNAPOLOGETICALLY went head to head with the President, calling him out when he told her to “Go Ask China” in response to her question to him about the Corona virus.
This journalist + strong femme embodies what this new chapter of being #unapologeticallyasian is all about.
Use your voice. Claim your space. Demand to be treated with dignity, and stand up to the President of the United States if you have to.
Thank you, #Weijia, for being an inspiration to Americans and Asian Americans everywhere.
